my very own digital rot

Some time ago now I started moving some articles from medium to this blog when doing this I realised I had completely broken my own links when I moved from Jekyll to eleventy.

It wasn’t a platform disappearing it was a mistake with one line of code.

This was a quick fix with netlify redirects but it shows how brittle the web can be.

The main reason I write on my own domain is to keep my content my own, we’ve seen other writing services (Posterous) close and I’m not about to let my content go the same way. From Why should I write at Medium.com? by Gavin Elliott.

Better control of my own content is one of the main reasons I wanted to replicate my articles;

Now to fix all the markdown issues and sort out the 50 drafts.
